Job Description
- TWK Agri has the following vacancy available: Financial Accountant within the Grain division at Pretoria, Gauteng.
Job Summary
- This role involves ensuring accurate financial records, managing month-end and year-end processes, overseeing budgets, accounts, and reconciliations, and providing financial insights to support decision-making. It includes inventory accounting, capital management, and asset verifications for Grain Marketing and Silo Services, while ensuring compliance with standards and fostering cross-department collaboration.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and support audit processes
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across teams
- Manage the month-end and year-end closure processes
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure timely, accurate processing and reconciliation
- Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations and perform regular audits to resolve discrepancies
- Compile budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with relevant departments
- Analyse budget variances and provide financial recommendations
- Conduct financial analysis to highlight trends, risks, and improvement areas
- Manage capital and conduct asset verifications for Grain Marketing and Silo Services
- xPrepare monthly general ledger reconciliations and perform regular audits to resolve discrepancies
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement for Grain Marketing and Silo Services
- Provide financial insights and reporting to support senior management decisions
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial records through proper transaction recording, verification, and reconciliation
- Oversee inventory accounting and perform physical counts for Grain Marketing

About You:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Matric / Grade 12
- 5–7 years' experience in financial accounting
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Based in Piet Retief or Pretoria but willing to travel to Piet Retief on a regular basis
- Bilingual in English and Afrikaans (advantageous)
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Understanding of the Grain industry and its financial dynamics
- Familiarity with accounting standards, compliance and audit processes
- Extensive knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
- High proficiency in Accounting systems
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Professional qualification such as CA(SA) or CIMA (advantageous)
- Valid driver's license (Code 08)
- Willing to travel
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
