Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • To efficiently oversee the maintenance of facilities, equipment, and services for the KZN distribution centre, ensuring regulatory compliance while optimizing costs.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Monitor maintenance budgets, ensuring cost control and optimization.
  • Responsible for the training, coaching, mentoring, and professional development of employees directly reporting to you.
  • Integration with the various department managers in the DC to ensure the best utilization of facilities.
  • Management of all service contractors through SLA’s and implement corrective actions when deviations from the SLA occur.
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations and standards.
  • Lead and manage a team, including contractors and suppliers, ensuring high standards of performance and resolving conflicts in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Oversee facilities management projects, providing technical support as needed.
  • Promote adherence to established processes for equipment maintenance and infrastructure upkeep.
  • Investigate and recommend innovative, cost-effective solutions based on best practices.
  • Provide monthly reports on maintenance schedules for all technical assets and facilities maintenance projects.
  • Support the business in driving continuous improvement in equipment and facility management services.
  • Effectively use green area meeting to ensure the delivery of the team goals through relevant scorecards as per the strategy.
  • Support the planned and preventative maintenance plans proactively.
  • Support the management of equipment and facility maintenance at KZN DC to ensure optimal operational efficiency.

About You:

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to manage budgets and cost control.
  • Proficiency in SAP or maintenance management systems (advantageous).
  • 5 years of experience in technical maintenance, or facilities management.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance, compliance, and supplier management processes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
