Introduction
- The purpose of the Human Resource Development Controller is to strategically coordinate and enhance training activities in alignment with the SPAR Quality Management System. This role aims to support and drive training-related initiatives that foster employee development, ensure compliance, and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.
Job description
THE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Handle financial administration tasks, including creating purchase orders and processing invoices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distribution center staff and service providers.
- Promote training initiatives and raise awareness of learning opportunities within the organization.
- Keep proper records of training registers, certificates, and evaluation forms to meet audit standards.
- Ensure adherence to the Quality Management System by conducting self-audits and participating in national audits.
- Coordinate the annual Training Needs Analysis (TNA) process and ensure all training needs are documented.
- Offer advice and guidance on personal development plans (PDPs).
- Conduct regular internal audits on Learning Management Systems.
- Maintain accurate learner records in compliance with SDF and SETA requirements.
- Ensure training compliance
- Oversee and maintain the internal training calendar via the SPAR Academy online platform.
- Facilitate internal training sessions as needed.
- Source and liaise with accredited training providers.
- Compile training feedback and evaluation reports for stakeholders.
- Conduct post-training evaluations and follow up on recommendations to assess training effectiveness.
- Provide support and guidance on training-related matters to management, staff, and learners.
- Manage and communicate the plan for all training initiatives at the DC.
- Coordinate and manage training initiatives and departmental projects based on business needs.
- Prepare and ensure the administration of documentation such as registers and evaluations.
- Must be able to design, present, and evaluate training and development interventions

About You:
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
THE PERSON MUST SATISFY THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES
- Excellent Communication (verbal and written) in English and Interpersonal Skills at all levels within the business (non-negotiable).
- Skills showing Time Management, Pro-activeness, Use of Initiative, High Energy Levels and Attention to Detail is essential.
- Facilitator, Assessor Certificate (Advantageous)
- SDF Qualification (Advantageous)
- High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) demonstrating speed, accuracy and creativity (non-negotiable)
- Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in a training environment (Required) - including experience in project management of long-term training programmes such as learnerships, SETA administration (Mandatory and Discretionary Grant), conducting a Training Needs Analysis, coaching and performance management of learners in the workplace, facilitation of learning and general staff development.
- Prior working experience in the field of FMCG industry would be advantageous.
- Presentation / Facilitation Skills for a variety of situations using different methodologies.
- Matric Certificate (Essential)
- Demonstrated ability to plan and co-ordinate activities, using initiative to solve problems that may arise; (Organisational Skills)
